DPD opens pickup points in shoe stores of Obuv Rossii

Russian footwear retail chain Obuv Rossii has announced a new project with DPD, the largest commercial operator of express delivery in Russia. The two companies have completed a trial of pickup points in Obuv Rossii’s shoes stores. The pilot was launched with about 20 shops, but in the future, 150 more stores will be connected.
The pilot project was launched in December last year, with about 20 retail outlets that were connected to the DPD Pickup network in Russia. The trial was a great success and now the two parties want to connect about 150 more stores in the future.

‘Increase traffic and omni-channel sales’

The partnership with DPD is part of the footwear retailer’s strategy to integrate into the logistics infrastructure of the Russian ecommerce market. “With the new project, we offer a new convenient service to our customers, improve quality of service in our retail outlets, increase traffic and omni-channel sales,” CEO Anton Titov comments.

It’s not the first time the two companies work together. In 2013, they started with the delivery of goods by DPD to Obuv Rossii’s retail stores. “Our drop-off service in stores provides more comfortable locations to the customers for receiving their online orders, attracts additional traffic for our partners and makes it possible for the shoe company to expand the offer of services to its customers”, sales director Ilya Martynov of DPD says.

Obuv Rossii also partners with PickPoint

Aside from the cooperation with DPD, Obuv Rossii also works together with PickPoint, another big player of the Russian parcel delivery market. “We will continue developing the new business line and adding new partners to it”, Natalia Pauli tells Ecommerce News Europe.

More retailers cooperate with logistics companies

“By the way, our example is not unique in the Russian ecommerce market. Currently, there’s a trend of retailers starting to open pick-up points of express delivery operators in their stores”, she explains. “For example, the major Russian food retailer x5 Retail Group is going to cooperate with PickPoint to place parcel automats in its stores.”
