Pick-up points of Russian Post to open in Obuv Rossii stores

Russian Post JSC and Obuv Rossii Group have signed a partnership agreement, in terms of which the pick-up points of a logistics operator will be opened in Group's stores in November. The customers will be able to receive online orders there.

At the first stage, pick-up points will be opened in more than 180 stores of the Group throughout Russia. On the one hand, such cooperation will allow to reduce the load on the post offices in the regions, especially during the seasonal spikes. On the other hand, it will allow increasing the traffic to the stores of Obuv Rossii Group and the customer retention.

The cooperation includes several stages: within 2-3 weeks, the partner's software and the software of Obuv Rossii will be integrated based on 1C. At the same time, the training process for shoe retailer employees on software operation will be started. At the beginning of November, the project test mode will be started in several stores. It will be spread throughout the network in the future. The planned volume of parcels that will be redirected to the pick-up points of Russian Post based on the outlets of Obuv Rossii will be more than 5 thousand per month.

Russian Post is actively developing a network of pick-up points. In the middle of October, the company offered online stores a service for sending purchases not only to post offices but also to own and partner parcel terminal and pick-up points. In the short term, additional services of order forwarding, easy return or partial repurchase of the order will be available to customers of Russian Post.

"Russian Post will continue to develop platform solutions to meet the needs of e-commerce market consumers. Our goal is to make our services as comfortable as possible for both sellers and the end consumer, and, therefore, to become the main logistics player in the online retail market," says Aleksey Skatin, First Deputy General Director for Electronic Commerce of Russian Post JSC.

"The partnership with Russian Post is an important stage in the development of the "Pick-up Points" project, which we started to implement in the autumn of 2018. The project is a part of the Group's strategy for integration into the logistics infrastructure of the Russian e-commerce market. We have worked out all the basic technologies during the year, and now we have reached the figure of 9-10 thousand parcels per week," says Anton Titov, CEO of Obuv Rossii Group." The cooperation with the national postal operator will allow the company to offer additional convenient services to our customers, and it will open up new business opportunities."

The possibility of pickup becomes more and more popular among Russians. According to Data Insight, 36 million parcels from online stores (17% of all online orders) were delivered to pick-up points and parcel terminals in the first half of 2019. The main growth of eCommerce and, accordingly, logistics market for online stores fell precisely on the pickup.
